Hi everybody its Andy and welcome to my office in Modesto California I'm an attorney licensed to practice law in California as well as New York in this particular video I'm going to go over a California specific proof of service form called the FL three-30 on that form is specifically a proof of service for personal service in California family law cases so if personal service is not what you not like not what happened in your case, but you actually mailed it instead there's a companion video to this one that goes over how to fill in the proof of service by mail form and that's the form FL three five so the three five video I'm going to go ahead and link it over here so if this is what like if this video is what you're more interested in go ahead and click over, and hopefully you should be all set but if in your situation you managed to serve a person kind of you know face to face and actually hand it hand the documents to them the three-30 is what you need, so you're in the right place so those of you who don't know what a proof of service is in a nutshell perfect service is basically California's term for a document that's used as a kind of receipt I guess to prove that a particular document was sent from you know person a to person B or company a and Company B party one not plaintiff to defend a defendant a plaintiff etc so as you can probably imagine a purpose service is very important because it actually has dates cities times people's names addresses all that stuff to actually show you know who received the document who sent the document etc out of all of that information of if it dates is probably going to be the most important thing because as you can probably imagine in your know kind of law generally there are deadlines for things so if certain things have to happen within 30 days certain things have to happen within 10 days certain things have to happen within 15 days but under certain six circumstances the 15 days becomes 10 etc, etc so things dates very, very important and proof of service helps you establish when the habit I guess when the clock starts so when I kind of go to court and I see people doing cases on their own the proof of service of fortune I think is one of those forms that they don't want to understand you know why it's important how to fill it out where to get the form etc so hopefully this video as well as the companion video from the 3 3 5 form helps you figure that out if that's the situation that you find yourself in, so that said the form 335 or the 3 3 0 rather excuse me is on the computer and I will go ahead and show you guys how to fill it in the forms themselves are downloadable like I said video going over how to do that, but I always type the forms out myself because I know that my writing is awful, and I'd rather not have the court you know not be able to read anything if you know is you don't have the ability to type it that's fine you don't have to type it if you can please do but if you have to fill...
